We just hosted our recent workshop for dry cleaners who are interested in converting to Professional Wet Cleaning (PWC) like us. We had several guests from the Bay Area who were genuinely interested in the system. We cleaned and pressed garments for everyone to see for themselves and one of our guests even had a sweater cleaned in the process too.
Many dry cleaners are afraid of switching 100% to PWC but that is the only way to become truly green. Too many dry cleaners tout themselves all over their store fronts as being “Organic” or “eco-friendly” but the sad truth is that they are not. Formaldehyde, petroleum, and silica (just to name a few of those toxic solvents) are NOT green NOR safe. I hope consumers will really take the time to educate themselves to know what is being used to clean their garments.
Also be wary of the mixed use facilities where they claim to be “wet cleaning” in addition to the solvents being used. Solvents are still being used at that location.
